On April 17 and 18, 2024, the Egmont Committee (EC) held an intersessional meeting graciously hosted by FIU Australia (AUSTRAC) in Canberra, Australia.
EC members convened to discuss key strategic issues arising from decisions made at the 2024 Working and Regional Group Meetings in Malta (in January) and in preparation for the 30th Plenary in Paris this Summer. Members also participated in an informative session hosted by Fintel Alliance in Sydney, to learn more about the public-private partnership (PPP) initiative, developed by AUSTRAC.
EC members also had the pleasure of meeting with Brendan Thomas, newly appointed CEO of AUSTRAC, and Hon Mark Dreyfus KC, MP, Attorney-General of Australia to acknowledge the vital importance of international coordination and cooperation in the fight against ML/TF.
The EC is a vital consultation and coordination mechanism for the Egmont Groups Heads of FIU, Working and Regional Groups. The EC supports the EG’s diverse initiatives, ranging from internal coordination and administration to representation in the global AML/CFT fora.
We thank all EC members for their dedication to the Egmont Group’s mission and vision.
The EG thanks FIU Australia (AUSTRAC) for hosting the vital intersessional meeting this past week.
